The NJ Credit Union PLAN is responsible for providing valuable guidance to and support of the NJCUL's public policy agenda. The NJ Credit Union PLAN includes two important components, a Grassroots Action Team and a Legislative Advisory Group.

NJ Credit Union PLAN membership is open to interested credit union professionals, volunteers, and members willing to commit to actively support the public policy agenda of credit unions by participating in one or more of the following activities of the Grassroots Action Team and/or the Legislative Advisory Group: 

Grassroots Action Team

  • Participate in periodic Calls-to-Action and recruit additional participants
  • Serve as a Contact Officer to build relations with a targeted state legislators or member of Congress
  • Attend the annual CUNA Government Affairs Conference (GAC)
  • Participate in NJCUL Washington Hike-the-Hills
  • Participate in district and Trenton visits with NJ state legislators
  • Ensure their credit union participates in Project Zip Code
  • Encourage Project Zip Code participation by other credit unions
  • Help organize credit union-hosted fundraisers for selected credit union-friendly candidates for the NJ Legislature

Legislation Advisory Group

  • Review potential initiatives and assist with establishing the League's legislative agenda and priorities
  • Committee members took part in several Calls-to-Action contacting federal and state legislators on important issues such as regulatory relief, interchange fee regulation, and onerous employee benefit mandates, attended CUNA's annual Government Affairs Conference and visited members of New Jersey's Congressional delegation during the League's annual Hike-the-Hill in March.
