HIGHTSTOWN, N.J. – When the New Jersey Credit Union League launched its consumer advocacy Web site, BankingYouCanTrust.com, last year, it also created a Twitter handle to promote credit unions in the social media realm.
In recent weeks, the League has beefed up its social media presence with its consumer advocacy handle @BankingYouTrust. The account has received 29 new followers in just a couple weeks—even Newark Mayor Cory Booker is one of the latest new followers.
“NJCUL has always had a strong social media presence for the association, even winning a CUNA award in 2009 for its efforts, but this is our first foray into social media targeted toward consumers and having a prominent figure like Mayor Booker follow us will hopefully boost our success in this arena,” said NJCUL Director of Marketing & Communications Candice Nigro.
