NJCUL, CU Advocates Hike-the-Hill

WASHINGTON – Credit union advocates traveled to Washington Tuesday for a day of meetings with the offices of the New Jersey’s congressional delegation.

Credit Union of New Jersey Board Chairman Gary Chizmadia, Aspire FCU President/CEO Tom O’Shea, XCEL Chief Marketing Officer Tom Quigley and Visions FCU Government Relations & Engagement Officer Trish Shermot joined the New Jersey Credit Union League (NJCUL) President/CEO David Frankil and NJCUL Vice President of Corporate & Governmental Affairs Chris Abeel for meetings with the offices of seven delegation members.

Quigley and Shermot also represented NJCUL-member credit unions at a special “thank you reception” hosted by Rep.-elect Mikie Sherrill. The NJCUL provided CULAC support for Sherrill’s successful campaign to succeed Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-11), who did not seek re-election.

The meetings gave credit union advocates an opportunity to continue building relations with delegation members and communicate credit unions priorities for the 116th Congress. New Jersey’s delegation will include four new faces in January, the most significant turnover in recent memory.
