WASHINGTON - NJCUL has planned a special luncheon to be held on December 2 at Credit Union House to honor former CUNA President/CEO and Credit Union House founder Dan Mica.
This will be a wonderful opportunity for New Jersey to honor Mica for his untiring and continuing efforts on behalf of credit unions and all League members are invited to attend. NJCUL will be presenting a $5,000 donation to CU House in Mica's name on behalf of New Jersey's credit unions. It is a complimentary event and the League will organize carpooling for interested attendees.
Credit union leaders will also have the opportunity to hear from NCUA and political leaders on the current and future issues facing credit unions. NCUA Director of Public and Congressional Affairs John McKechnie will brief attendees at 10:45 a.m. on regulatory and political issues facing credit unions.
New Jersey Congressman Scott Garrett (R-5th Dist.), senior member of the House Financial Services Committee, will also address attendees on the future of the political landscape after the lunch honoring Mica at 2:30 p.m. With Republicans taking control of the House, Garrett is in the running to chair the Subcommittee on Capital Markets.
"This is a great opportunity for New Jersey credit union leaders to personally thank longtime credit union CEO Dan Mica for his dedication to the movement," said NJCUL President/CEO Paul Gentile. "We will also hear directly from NCUA on the many regulatory issues facing credit unions. Finally, we'll have a chance to interact with one of our most senior congressman who sits on the important House Financial Services Committee. I encourage credit union leaders to join us in D.C. for what should be an informative and fun event."
