HIGHTSTOWN, N.J. – In July, credit unions gathered at the New Jersey Credit Union League for a Reality Fairs meeting to discuss “Best Practices” for the program.
Credit unions new to the program as well as those that are experienced in volunteering for or hosting Fairs shared their challenges and suggested best practices for future Fairs.
From this discussion, the League developed a Best Practices Guide to act as a resource for credit unions. The guide includes an explanation of the program and the New Jersey Credit Union Foundation grant application process, a suggested timeline for hosting a Fair, a list of best practices, and contact information for credit unions that have hosted Fairs in the past.
The League has made this guide available to its member credit unions on its Web site at www.njcul.org/financial-reality-fairs.aspx. There you’ll find the Best Practices Guide as well as other documents needed to plan and host a Fair and a calendar where the League posts information on upcoming Fairs.
