FAIRFIELD, N.J. – The New Jersey Credit Union League Northern Chapter held its June meeting last evening at Calandra’s Mediterranean Grill, in Fairfield, N.J. Over 50 people attended the meeting, which included the annual election of officers and an address from new League President/CEO Greg Michlig.
Tom Quigley, Director of Marketing at XCEL FCU, was re-elected chapter president, with incumbents Eddie Daniels, CEO, Newark Board of Education Employees CU and Michele Weiss, AVP/Chief Members Service Officer, Liberty Savings FCU, retaining their seats as vice president and treasurer, respectively. Cedric Mc Pherson, Credit Committee, Newark Post Office Employees CU, was elected to serve as chapter secretary.
Michlig spoke for roughly 20 minutes, using the time to provide information on both his personal and professional background. He detailed the numerous events he has attended throughout the state over his first month, noting that he is looking to gather perspective from as many different areas as possible. Michlig stressed that he has reached out to and met with leaders from all corners of the state, representing credit unions from large to under $20M in assets.
While also briefly addressing a few items from an operational and strategic perspective, Michlig stated that the primary message he wanted to deliver was that he needs to hear from the credit union community to help shape the direction of the League. He cited the momentum that has been established in recent years and noted that he has specific ideas and initiatives in mind, adding that such dialogue will ensure the most relevant offerings are prioritized and pursued accordingly.
