Community Financial Services Federal Credit Union is seeking a Senior Accountant

POSITION DESCRIPTION: Senior Accountant

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES: Production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, assisting management in developing the Credit Union’s strategic plan.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Administration, review and reconciliation of the credit union’s investment portfolio, asset/liability +management systems and other credit union financial activities.
  • Preparation of the NCUA Call Reports and other regulatory reports
  • Assist in the issuance of timely and complete financial statements and reports. Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues.
  • Manage the accuracy and productivity of the daily activities of accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed asset records and general accounting.
  • Preparation and the monitoring of the budget.
  • Ensure accounting records and reports are in compliance with GAAP and government regulations. Cooperate with and assist external auditors and regulators as appropriate.
  • Cooperate with, participate in, and support the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management, safety and soundness and compliance with all regulatory          requirements; ensure that the office and all personnel adhere to the same.
  • Enthusiastically supports the credit union’s focus on member sales and service and actively seeks out opportunities to promote products and services.
  • All other duties as assigned

REPORTS TO: CEO

SUPERVISES: Accounting Department

EDUCATION/Experience:

  • Senior Accountant candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Business Administration.
  • Minimum of two years prior experience in accounting preferably in a credit union.
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required; ability to create and maintain complex Excel spreadsheets independently.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills.
  • Ability to organize, coordinate, direct and execute assignments or projects.
