Position Summary:

Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for branch operations, member services call center, mortgage and consumer lending, including collection efforts, marketing and business development. As a member of the senior leadership team, the COO will assist in the strategic planning process and achieving the Credit Union’s long and short-term goals and objectives and maintaining the organization’s financial health and stability. The COO will establish team building strategies to unite all departments and employees to work towards the vision of the Credit Union and build a caring culture. The COO will serve as the Bank Secrecy Act Compliance Officer and ensure the Credit Union operates in compliance with its Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) Policy.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Support the corporate mission and consistently demonstrate the Credit Union’s core values of Great People, Integrity, Service Mindset and Team work as described in our Core Values Statement.
  2. Ensure that Bank Secrecy Act reports are filed in a timely manner, account opening procedures comply with Customer Identification Program (CIP) requirements, appropriate staff training is provided on BSA policy and procedures and records are retained as required by the BSA.
  3. Ensure that branch operations, member services call center, mortgage and consumer lending operations, including collections, marketing and business development are in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations set forth by the National Credit Union Administration and other regulatory agencies.
  4. Oversee the operation of the branches, call center, lending, marketing and business development functions. Develop, implement and maintain programs that maximize efficiency and quality in the workplace and provide consistent quality service to members.
  5. Attend Board meetings and report on assigned areas of responsibility as requested by the President/CEO.
  6. Serve on the Asset Liability Committee.
  7. Evaluate loan exceptions with the CEO, CFO or Director of Lending and participate in discussions and decisions regarding problem loans and OREO.
  8. Complete special projects as assigned by the CEO and/or in accordance with the Strategic Plan.
  9. Establish and maintain policies and procedures for assigned areas of responsibility.
  10. Responsible for managing the Branch Manager, Director of Lending, and Marketing and Business Development Manager.
  11. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, co-workers and employees.


  • Demonstrated ability to lead change and to transform and build an enhanced sales culture that includes coaching, training, and achievement of desired results while attracting new membership through business channels.
  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of eight years’ related experience within the financial services industry, including the management of high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.
