RAHWAY, N.J. – Bill Stebner Jr. passed away recently after a long tenure of service to the New Jersey credit union movement.
Stebner began his credit union career by starting Gourmet Bakers FCU. He served as manager there for four years. He then moved on to be CEO of Schering Federal Credit Union for 17 years followed by E53 FCU (now Motion FCU) where he also served as CEO for 17 years, retiring in June 2004.
"Bill was a long time credit union advocate and lead our credit union for many years. Our condolences and prayers go out to his family," said Michael Greenwood, current president/CEO of Motion FCU, formerly E53 FCU.
Serving as a volunteer was also a large part of Stebner’s career. He served as secretary of the Union County Chapter of the NJ CU League for 18 years and on the board of Garden State Corporate Central CU for five years. Stebner currently served on both the board of directors and supervisory committee for United Financial Services FCU.
He proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War and in 1961, he graduated from Rutgers University with a B.A. in accounting.
