International Credit Union Day (ICU Day)

“People Helping People®”

The theme in the U.S. for International Credit Union Day (ICU Day) 2015 will be “People Helping People®” This theme embraces the longstanding credit union philosophy. Since appearing in past ICU Day themes from the 1960s and 1980s, the meaning of this phrase has stood the test of time.

ICU Day will be held on October 15, 2015. The phrase, "'People Helping People,' is central to credit unions' existence," said Brian Branch, World Council president and CEO. "This timeless concept resonates well with all generations, especially young adults who strongly value socially responsible organizations that put people before profit."

The ultimate goal is to raise awareness about the great work that credit unions are doing around the world and give members the opportunity to get more involved. Credit unions and associations throughout the world celebrate the day with fundraisers, open houses, contests, picnics and parades.

This year's poster design embraces what credit unions do to reinforce their social responsibility around the world in several spectrums of color. Service to members, building financial stability, on-going education, among others are what solidify this year's theme of "People Helping People."
