TRENTON, N.J. – Governor Christie yesterday nominated Patrick Mullen to head the Division of Banking within the NJ Department of Banking & Insurance (DOBI). The nomination is subject to confirmation by the state Senate.
Mullen currently serves as the Division’s assistant director in charge of the Office of Consumer Finance (OFC). In addition to state chartered credit unions, the OCF is responsible for regulating various other consumer financial businesses and activities such as mortgage bankers and brokers, check cashers, foreign and domestic money transmitters, and pawnbrokers.
As division director, Mullen will also oversee the regulation of all state chartered banks.
Before joining DOBI in February 2011, Mullen held senior positions at Alliance Capital Management, ABN AMRO Bank and Barclays Capital.
