JAMESBURG, N.J. – New Jersey credit union golfers spent a beautiful day on the greens Tuesday at the New Jersey Credit Union League’s 24th Annual Golf Tournament at Forsgate Country Club. The rain held off for the around 140 golfers who took to Forsgate’s two renowned golf courses, Banks and Palmer, for the tournament, which benefits the League’s political advocacy efforts.

After a cloudy but warm day on both courses, golfers heard from N.J. Senator Joe Kyrillos (R-13) during the awards and dinner on his plans to change the economic state in New Jersey if elected to the U.S. Senate. Senator Kyrillos also commended credit unions for being there for consumers as well as their communities, and alluded to his support of member business lending (MBL) legislation, stating that “competition is good”.

Financial Resources FCU Chairman Emeritus Peter Bruno (right) was awarded with an Advocacy Award for his political advocacy efforts. NJCUL Chairman Lou Vetere (left) and NJCUL President/CEO Paul Gentile (center) presented Bruno with the award.

For the first time, the League awarded one credit union volunteer and one credit union professional for their outstanding political advocacy efforts. Financial Resources FCU Chairman Emeritus Peter Bruno received the award for his efforts as a volunteer and First Jersey CU President/CEO Chris Davis received the award for his efforts as a professional.
