The U.S. Treasury's Go Direct campaign is a public awareness program educating Americans about the Treasury's new rule regarding federal benefit payments.
Late last year, the U.S. Treasury announced a new rule that mandates that all federal benefit and non-tax payments will be paid electronically as of March 1, 2013. This change will impact people who are about to apply for federal benefits (like Social Security retirement) and the more than 10 million people who are already receiving benefits by paper check. Additionally, no new retirees will be able to receive paper checks as of May 31, 2011.
To help credit unions educate their staff and members on the federal benefit payment changes, NJCUL has listed links to Go Direct campaign resources below.
If you have any questions regarding the Go Direct campaign or the Treasury's federal benefit payment changes, please contact Nicola Foggie at nfoggie@njcul.org or 800-792-8861 ext. 112.
