HIGHTSTOWN, N.J. - Tomorrow, Tuesday, October 11th is the deadline to register for next Monday's breakfast with Congressman Jon Runyan (R-3). Registration is available at no charge to NJCUL affiliate credit union professionals and volunteers.
The breakfast is the next in a series of public policy outreach events designed to build relations with state and federal lawmakers and give credit union leaders an opportunity to share directly with them how legislation affects their credit union's ability to serve its members.
"With debate heating up on various jobs bills, this is an excellent opportunity to weigh-in on MBL reform with the newest member of our delegation," NJCUL President/CEO Paul Gentile said. "Our goal is to secure as many MBL co-sponsors as possible so it's essential we have a strong showing," he continued. "If we're going to be successful with MBL reform, we need the same level of grassroots commitment that proved so crucial to the success of our municipal deposits initiative," Gentile concluded.
Elected last year, Congressman Runyan's district stretches from the Pennsylvania border to the Jersey shore encompassing parts of Burlington, Ocean and Camden counties.
Before his election to Congress, Runyan had a distinguished NFL career playing with teams that reached the Super Bowl in 2000 and 2004. He retired as an offensive tackle with the Philadelphia Eagles at the end of the 2010 season.
