Join the League

Why Join the New Jersey Credit Union League?

Our mission is to assure the vitality and future success of New Jersey credit unions by being the primary source of services, information, education and representation in the state of New Jersey.

The League's core functions are:

Government Affairs
Regulatory Affairs
Education
Communication
Strategic Planning Services

Each of these functions helps the League provide the best service and support possible to our member credit unions.

Government Affairs

The League acts as an advocate for credit unions on both the federal and state government levels. We monitor legislation in Trenton and Washington, D.C. to ensure that the credit union movement is being represented in any issue impacting our operations.

As a member, you enjoy these benefits:

  • Opportunities to take part in lobbying efforts and meet state legislators
  • Political fundraising on your behalf by CULAC
  • Grassroots political action by the League's own lobbyist
  • Admittance to an invitation-only CULAC forum held at our Annual Meeting & Convention

Regulatory Affairs

As regulations governing credit unions change, it can be a challenge to keep up with the changes and to determine how the changes affect your credit union. The league has a full-time legal counsel on staff and retains the services of another when necessary. In addition, the League keeps in close contact with the NCUA regulators to keep abreast of regulatory issues.
In addition, the League will soon offer an online compliance tool to member credit unions "InfoSite." This dues supported service will provide answers to regulatory questions at the click of a mouse.

Our members have access to these resources:

  • League InfoSite online compliance service.

Education

Developing the skills of our member credit union's personnel is vital to the success of every credit union. The League has an assortment of educational opportunities for credit unions of all shapes and sizes.

NJCUL Members have access to the following opportunities:

  • Opportunities to attend state conferences such as NJCUL's Annual Meeting & Convention and Leadership Conference
  • Availability of National Certification Programs covering virtually any subject and any level
  • Opportunities to attend special seminars and workshops led by experts in the field
  • Access to materials and programs like the National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE) High School Financial Planning program

Communication

The League disseminates news relating to legislative and regulatory matters, education and training opportunities, products and services, and activities involving New Jersey credit unions and the people in the credit union movement. The League monitors New Jersey's 230 plus print media publications, along with national media outlets, to ensure that our members are always being represented in the best possible light.

Here are a few of the benefits members receive:

  • The Weekly Exchange, a weekly e-newsletter about the credit union movement in New Jersey and across the country
  • Logo design services and creation services

Strategic Planning

The New Jersey Credit Union League has dedicated resources to help with any phase of the credit union business planning process. Competition to gain employees' financial business is intense. NCUA is placing greater emphasis on the ability to anticipate risk and manage growth. The League can help!
