Accounting Manager

SUMMARY:

Plans, directs, organizes and controls the financial activities of the organization.  Develops implements and maintains accounting systems, practices, controls and procedures which conform to accepted accounting/financial principals and fulfill the financial objectives of the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the activities of the accounting staff which include account reconciliation’s, wire transfers, cash management, ACH exception processing & reconciliation, share draft returns, accounts payable (IPS Sendero), debit/credit card processing (Certegy), daily balancing of branch activity, ATM balancing & reconciliation, payroll processing (ezLaborManager & ADP TotalSource), non-post transactions and fraud alerts (debit/credit card).  Update, develop and implement policies and procedures as required.  
  • Perform month end closing of the Credit Union books and records, including preparing and evaluating financial statements.
  • Preparation of the NCUA 5300 call report, Federal Reserve 2900 report and Raddon non-interest income survey.
  • Responsible for the monthly investment portfolio accounting and reconciliation utilizing Morgan Keegan Reportfolio. 
  • Assist the CFO with the preparation of the credit union budget.  Prepare quarterly actual vs. budget reports (including analyzing budget variances) for all organizational departments.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the general ledger and accounting software (XP Systems).  Maintain system controls related to the setup of new general ledger accounts, general ledger trial balance and reports (making system improvements and updated processes when appropriate). 
  • Performs financial analysis of Credit Union operations to ascertain financial performance, liquidity position, cash flow, budget performance, cost control and similar financial activities.
  • Coordinates audit activities with examiners and external auditors.
  • Responsible for the employment, counseling, performance evaluation, training, motivation and discipline of assigned employees.

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelors Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field of equivalent experience.  Requires well-rounded knowledge of credit union financial activities, policies, procedures and systems as would normally be obtained by one to three years of accounting management experience in a financial institution.

Credit Union Compliance Specialists

The New Jersey Credit Union League is recruiting for two Compliance Specialists. A Credit Union Compliance Specialist will provide compliance development and support for 2-4 credit unions by executing the following duties:

Ensure BSA/CIP/OFAC compliance programs meet the regulatory requirements. Review suspicious activity reported by credit union employees to the Bank Secrecy Act Officer and determine if a Suspicious Activity Report needs to be filed. Review and audit each department's compliance procedures to improve compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations. Assist in implementing changes to findings in compliance reviews and audits. Assist and make recommendations to aid the credit union in preventing internal and external fraud. Implement new laws and regulations that affect the credit unions, including updating policies and procedures to reflect changes caused by new regulations. Compile and maintain training materials and conduct training sessions for new and existing employees.

One position will be located in North Jersey and one position will be located in Central Jersey.

For one of the positions 1/2 of the time will be spent at the participating credit union in Ewing, and 1/2 in East Windsor. For the other position, 1/3 of the time will be spent at a credit union in Clark, 1/3 in Nutley, and 1/3 in Hightstown. The 1/3 in Hightstown may be done by telecommute.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree and 2-4 years of compliance, operations, policy development or other related experience within a financial institution. A completion of specialized courses of study, related to financial institution regulatory/operational issues and compliance, such as CUCE, CRCM or NCCO highly recommended. Experience with fraud prevention, risk management and/or security as well as previous credit union experience would be a plus. Superior communication and computer skills and ability to assimilate large amounts of technical information into language understandable to various business units in the credit union required. Ability to travel for moderate periods of time and lift up to 15 pounds required.

Financial Sales Consultant

The Financial Sales Consultant position requires a high-energy, out going, sales motivated individual to build business, by selling credit union products and services to members and non-members. Information Systems Manager
Purpose
Accomplishes information system objectives by installing Computer Systems, ensuring back-up systems operate effectively, purchasing hardware and software, providing technology infrastructures for the Credit Union organization and contributing to organizational policy as it relates to quality standards and strategic planning.

Position is responsible for effectively utilizing our consultative sales approach to close credit union products and services; and build a valued relationship with the member that will make MHEFCU their primary financial institution.
