Who Should Attend? Tellers, teller supervisors, member service representatives and new account managers.
Value to be Gained: The NCUA requires all staff members to receive BSA training annually. In this 2- hour session, frontline staff will be trained in what they need know to comply with BSA.
Each Participant will receive a take-home quiz to test their BSA knowledge. To obtain a certificate, the participant must forward a completed quiz to the NJ Credit Union League. Upon receiving a passing grade of 80% or better, the League will prepare and mail the BSA Certificate. The quiz and certificate may be used to show examiners that employees obtained regular training and understand BSA requirements.
Topics and Objectives: The NCUA has stated that Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) compliance is one of its top priorities and key focus areas in exams. In fact, BSA is one of three areas that must be included in every examination. Frequently cited violations in BSA exams are: 1) lack of independent testing of a credit union’s BSA program, 2) inadequate or inappropriate training for staff and volunteers and, 3) lack of knowledge regarding, or failure to complete Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs) and Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and, 4) the failure to identify suspicious activity.
This session will focus on:
-
When a CTR needs to completed and how to correctly complete a CTR
-
When a SAR is required and what is required to correctly complete a SAR
-
Identifying money laundering and suspicious activity
-
CIP and OFAC compliance; and
-
Customer due diligence requirements.
Note: This qualifies as an “in-person” session for the Compliance Certification Program.
